How to become an umpire

1. All umpires must complete the Rules of Netball Exam (Umpire_exam_V4) and obtain a mark of 70% or more.  Cost of exam is $12.50.

The exam is done via the Netball Learning portal.

2. All Juniors umpires must complete a Basics of Umpiring course (Face to face). 

​

3. To become a Badged umpire you must complete the Foundation Umpire Course.  Cost of exam is $45.

The exam is done via the Netball Learning portal.

4. To achieve a National Badge, South Coast will arrange a practical assessment.

​

*No age restrictions apply to candidates for any badge level

*Minimum age for umpiring at South Coast is 12 years

*Candidates may be tested up to twice in any calendar year for the same badge level

​

South Coast Umpiring Levels

At South Coast umpires should begin umpiring on Saturday's at the Junior Level.  South Coast has a number of experienced Umpire coaches who work with umpires on a weekly basis and assess when each is ready to move up to the next level. 

*Minimum age is 12 years.
